Who are the midwives in this practice?
Claire Rogers joined Midwives of Georgian Bay in January 2016. She graduated from the Midwifery Education Program at Ryerson in 2013, and worked at a busy practice in North York, attending home and hospital births with privileges at North York General Hospital. Claire enjoys working with the clients and families of Parry Sound and the surrounding area and contributing to the work of sustaining maternity care in rural and remote communities.
Judy Rogers initially worked as an apprentice midwife in Nova Scotia with a local family physician, and went to England for a formal midwifery education program, graduating in 1978. She has worked as a midwife since then, attending home and hospital births in England until moving back to Canada in 1990. She has worked as a midwife in Ontario since 1990, and had privileges at North York General Hospital from 1995 – 2013, when she moved to Parry Sound to open Midwives of Georgian Bay. She was a founding faculty member and taught in the Midwifery Education Program at Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University) from 1993 – 2018. Judy has privileges at both West Parry Sound Health Centre and Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. Judy returned to the practice in November of 2023.
All midwives attend births at home and hospital. The hospitals where we work are West Parry Sound Health Centre and Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
