Who are the midwives in this practice?
Judy Rogers initially worked as an apprentice midwife in Nova Scotia with a local family physician, and went to England for a formal midwifery training program, graduating in 1978. She has worked as a midwife since then, attending home and hospital births in England until moving back to Canada in 1990. She worked as a midwife in Ontario since 1990 and has had privileges at North York General Hospital from 1995 until 2014. She also taught in the Midwifery Education Program at Ryerson University from 1993-2018. Judy now has privileges at West Parry Sound Health Centre and Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.
Claire Rogers joined Midwives of Georgian Bay in January, 2016. She graduated from the Midwifery Education Program at Ryerson in 2013, and worked at a busy practice in North York, attending home and hospital births with privileges at North York General Hospital. Claire now has privileges at West Parry Sound Health Centre and Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. Claire enjoys working with the clients and families of Parry Sound and the surrounding area and contributing to the work of sustaining maternity care in rural and remote communities.
Kylie Fawcett completed the Midwifery Education Program at Laurentian University and worked with the Midwives of Muskoka prior to joining Midwives of Georgian Bay. While working in the rural community of Muskoka she attended many home and hospital births and has held privileges at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital since May of 2016. She now also holds privileges at West Parry Sound Health Centre. Kylie considers herself a life-long learner, and she finds a teacher in each of her clients.
