Registered midwives are primary care providers who provide pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum care for clients and their newborns. We offer home visits in the first week postpartum to facilitate your recovery and the transition to life with baby after birth. We care for you at any point in your pregnancy and for the first 6 weeks postpartum for you and your newborn.
We can order lab tests, ultrasounds and prescribe medications. Midwives provide care for clients planning home and hospital births. The hospitals where we work are West Parry Sound Health Centre and Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
Midwives are available to their clients by telephone 24/7 for urgent concerns about yourself or your newborn.
You do not need a referral to access midwifery care. You can fill out our online intake form, call us at (705) 746-4646 or walk-in.
Midwives are publically funded and there is no charge to access midwifery care.
You do not need a healthcard to access midwifery care. Midwives are funded to provide care to pregnant clients who are residents of Ontario regardless of whether they have a healthcard.
Midwives are able to provide care to clients who are planning cesarean section or who have had a previous cesarean section. Midwives are able to provide local supportive care to clients who require an Obstetrician to be involved due to pre-existing medical conditions or complications of pregnancy. We consult with Obstetricians and Paediatricians when complications develop.
We look forward to working with you!
